When I finished this book I was speechless for words. The emotions, nostalgia, and the journey Neil and Elaina endured touched my soul. This is Raine Miller at her best. Just when I thought she couldn’t get any better she writes this book that filled me with so much love and emotion. I just love their story. I felt as if I was there with them living every single moment, the good ones and the bad ones.
Elaina has been in love with Neil since forever. In fact she doesn’t remember not loving him.
The book also has lots of humor and we get to see Ethan as a secondary character before he met Brynne.
The steamy scenes Raine Miller style with lots of steam and love, always emotional, intimacy at its best.
I highly recommend this book and even if you haven’t read the other Blackstone Affair books, this book can be read as a standalone.

This was my read on the plane book, after attending the Sydney Author Event.

I absolutely love the Blackstone Affair series and after being introduced to Neil and Elaina in those books, I was excited to read their own story.

Elaina is seven years younger than Neil and met him when she was 10 years old, he is best friends with her brother Ian. Her family pretty much took him under their wings, his family life was no ideal so he embraced the love he felt from Ian and Elaina's family.

Elaina had that young love crush thing going on, from the moment she first met Neil and he winked at her. It continued to grow over the years, Neil was always her knight in shining armour, sticking up for her and defending her when needed. Neil is deployed after joining the army when Elaina is 14 years old and she is devastated to see him go.

She sees him intermittently over the years, when he is home on leave. When she is 18 years old and out drinking one night, everything changes. Neil is at the bar and ends up taking her home after finding she is completely drunk and trying to get over a break up.

Elaina is now no longer the 'little sister' and is a beautiful young woman. A woman Neil can no longer resist or deny his feelings for. It's like a fairytale come true for Elaina. These two seem destined to be together.

This is when the bitchy ex-girlfriend enters to feck everything up that will leave them both devastated.

Many years pass before these two ever see each other again and I have to say that I get very frustrated with couples who break up over what appears to me (the reader) as just stupid miscommunication.

These two are going to have to fess up to what went on all those years ago if they are to have a second chance at love
Two hearts meant for each other, surviving what life throws in their way. This story has it all. Love, anger, misunderstanding, misconceptions, pride, and a second chance.
Written in first person, with both points of view, the author takes the reader on an emotional rollercoaster ride as our protagonists battle their way through the life they live, together and apart. With character development seamlessly interwoven throughout their story. It was quite the experience. Highly recommend!
I didn't realize this book even existed when I read Ethan and Brynne's series. I was so pleasantly surprised!! I have to say that I feel like I've watched Raine grow through each of the books I've read and I couldn't be more of a cheerleader to her accomplishments! She should be very proud of herself for the works she has published. I've enjoyed each one.

I enjoyed this book more than I anticipated just because there isn't a whole lot of Neil's personality shown through in the other books. He seems rather dull actually. But after reading this I've gained so much more investing in his character almost. I mean who doesn't swoon when he tells Elaina how he felt when they were younger. How he looks out for her and protects her as much as he can.

And I want to be Elaina's friend!! I want someone else's parents to adopt me too!! To be loved as much as their own children just because they are good and so is he! Wouldn't this world be a whole better place if that was the "norm" on society?!?
