I love dragon shifters, so I had high hopes for Ivy's Dragons of Eternity series starter... Unfortunately, the setup had me nervous from the start.

Our heroine is an Imp who has lived on the run for decades, she finally took chance, settled down, bought a house and became a business owner and was finally happy... until he finds her.

I really didn't care for the kidnapping/slave/master thing that brings the leads together, there's such an imbalanced of power and he *will* have her, she is *his*. Initially, this skirted the line and I was worried that we might stray into questionable consent territory -nope, his overwhelming sexual mojo makes her forget all her qualms. Still, I wasnt happy that a HEA for them means she has to give up everything she's built. My other issue was that there wasn't much else going on storywise in the background, so at the heart this is just sexy times in a thin story wrapper.

So, for me this was just okay.

I'm a big Alexandra Ivy fan. This is an extension of her Guardians book series. It involves the tea shop owner who appeared in Jagr's book as a minor character. She is living a lonely existence as a talented baker with Levet. The adorable gargoyle aka 'match maker' makes an error and causes a spell that hides the heroine to dissipate. This leaves her open to terrible danger and also allows the dragon who's been searching for his love for 25 years to literally 'catch a whiff' of her location. So now, slavers, killers, and an amorous and sexy dragon shifter are all on the trail.

The characters in this book are more light hearted than in the Guardians series, and I believe it is a much shorter novel. This one takes place in another dimension, but the characters have the ability to travel between the worlds so I expect more interaction with my beloved characters from pervious books. Overall, I'd read almost anything this author pens. This is the start of a promising new series. and oh la la la, 'flutters self', I do so enjoy the cover art.
This is the first book of the "Dragons of Eternity" series and I sincerely hope it isn't the last. I loved every bit of it.

Tayla is an imp who is on the run and has been for the past 25 years. She had been abducted by trolls and handed over to Synge, a rather ruthless dragon and Baine's father. With her power, she was able to create a portal and escape this dragon's lair.

Baine had already purchased her and had been looking for her all these years with no luck. Until Levet (YES! From the Guardians of Eternity series) opened a dating service out of Tayla's house and somehow dissolved the spells that were protecting it.

Baine knew she was his mate, but he had to convince her and she wasn't the most willing all the time. Throw that into the mix of her escaping from Baine and going on a perilous rescue for her father and Levet while she's been hunted by other demons who want to kill her, you have a heck of a story.

It had a strong plot, solid characters, and it made me want a dragon of my very own.

This was a very good story. I liked both Tayla and Baine and after I found out more about their relationship/connection, I was glad they were able to figure things out to be together.

Tayla is an Imp and has been on the run for the last 25 years of her life. Her mother died at an early age and she spent most of her life looking after her father. 25 years ago, Tayla was kidnapped from their store and given to a dragon in payment for something. She was able to escape but has been running for 25 year until she found a house that she couldn't resist.

Baine is a dragon and a powerful one at that. Baine is intelligent and trades in favors and information in addition to being very good at the brute force approach. Bain came across Tayla just after she'd been delivered to his father as payment for something. He found himself entranced and immediately negotiated to buy her. Unfortunately, she escaped his father before Baine could take her home and he hasn't been able to find her since.

When Tayla found the house she loved so much, she used strong magics to shroud herself so hopefully she could stay hidden from her pursuer. She opened a tea room in her home and used her talent for baking to help bring in the customers. Tayla rents a room to a Gargoyle who runs a dating business and is also a friend. A friend who offers (insistently) to use a little magic to help Tayla find her true love...even if she denies wanting to find love. Soon after, Tayla unexpectedly senses Baine near and it's too late to run. She has no idea why her safeguards suddenly failed but it allows Baine to capture her.

Baine takes her to his lair and Tayla is pissed and resistant and who would blame her when you consider that she did nothing wrong but work late when some trolls kidnapped her and ruined her life. Tayla didn't see how Baine or anyone had the right to hunt her but that's what she'd been dealing with for decades. There is a strong connection between Baine and Tayla but Tayla avoids admitting it because of how they come together. When it comes out that Baine has a legitimate claim on her, she accepts it but not happily. It doesn't help matters that a number of people are hunting Tayla for unknown reasons which keeps Tayla and Baine rather busy. Regardless of the external drama and their messed up beginning, Tayla and Baine have too strong of a connection to let go of and, although they both take a bit to accept/recognize it, they eventually work things out between them. After that, it's pretty easy for them to come together and end the story starting towards a HEA.

This was a very enjoyable story. I liked Tayla and could sympathize with her situation and how she handled certain things. I don't think I would have been as easy on my father is he'd done to me what hers did to her but she wasn't a cream puff on the whole, just with those she cares about. Baine was an interesting character and I liked him very much. Overall, I liked this story and found it pretty engaging once I got into it. I'd recommend this story.
